Sk8fever.com Four Year Anniversary!!!

Yes, today marks sk8fever.com’s four year anniversary.

This blog may have only been open since the beginning of august, but it was part of a relaunch of sk8fever.com, which has been around for four years!

Sk8fever.com, or “FeveR” started out as a site/community about skateboarding, gaming, and all the things I was and still am interested in. As the site was somewhat lacking in content, the forums was what held everything together.

As time went on, the forums and site changed multiple times, and more features were added every time. But sadly, the last iteration of FeveR was inconsistent, and the active members died down until the site was just about dead.

People still visited the site, but it wasn’t the same as it once was, and the community had dissipated into nothing. Even I, the founder of the site had stopped posting. It wasn’t that I had completely lost interest, it was that I was busy with work and school, and I had little time to update, or code for the site.

But by studying my faults and mistakes of past versions of the site, I realized that I can’t rely on a message board to hold the site together, and that I wanted to bring something new to the table. Something that people such as myself would enjoy and keep coming back to.

The first thing I decided was to base the main site around a blog, something that could be updated daily without too much time and effort spent on coding and adding content.

The second thing was to update and integrate the spot database. As of now the spot database is usable, but behind the scenes I’m working on an upgraded and fully integrated version of spot database with easier submission, ajaxy interface, and much better looking pages.

Hopefully when the new spot database is release, users will submit spots and help it grow. Of couse I will be submitting my own spots as well.

Anyways, if any of you reading this that have been with sk8fever from the beginning, or even one of the earlier iterations. Thank you.

And for everyone, I hope you enjoy the site, and I look forward to releasing the new features, and updating the blog.
